History

One of France's oldest herding breeds, dating back to the 1500s. Used extensively in both World Wars as messenger dogs and mine detectors. Distinguished from the Briard by coat length. AKC recognized in 2007.

A large, muscular, well-proportioned dog with a short black and tan coat. Distinctive double dewclaws on rear legs. Strong, confident expression. Athletic, powerful build.
